Mary Ann Mertens

Fundraising Chair

Mary Ann has held several positions on both the Camp Bryerswood Board of Directors and Bryerswood Youth Camp Optimist Club. In addition to chairing the Fundraising Committee, for many years she was booking and rental chair and has now moved into the position of co-chair of rentals and maintenance.  In her working life she has been the acting supervisor for Rapid Delivery and managed the shipping docks, and all aspects of deliveries including computerized program of deliveries. She was also trained in Canada Customs Ace Portal for shipping cross border goods and documents for custom approvals. 

She has taken training or courses in Computer Skills and holds the following certificates: Marvel Beauty School, Lift Truck, Rapid Delivery, WHMIS, Transportation of Dangerous Goods and  Class B licensed . She has been employed as a school bus driver. Mary Ann volunteered on her employer’s Emergency Response Team and on the Recreation Committee where she also served as the Treasurer. She has been a Heart and Stroke volunteer, and Kidney Foundation Volunteer. Mary Ann has been a Girl Guide leader for 35 years, mainly focussing on Pathfinders (12-14), but she is flexible enough to have assisted with the younger girls when she is needed. She has also served in the capacity of Commissioner. She has spearheaded many trips for Pathfinder age youth, across Canada to as far as Costa Rica, and has been a volunteer summer camp staff member for many years.
