Kathi Poupard,

B.Mus., B.Ed., President

Kathi is a retired Secondary School Teacher of Instrumental and Vocal Music and Family Studies, Department Head for Music and Family Studies. She also teaches private music lessons for piano and band instruments. She was a volunteer gymnastics coach for high school girls for 37 years; was the Pit Band Director for many high school musicals and also designed and sewed costumes for the productions; was Director of Junior, Intermediate, Senior and Jazz Bands, and Choirs; has been a member of the Board of Directors for the Skeleton Lake Cottagers Organization for 14 years (various positions – Newsletter Editor, Junior Stewardship, History Book Committee, Merchandising). Kathi has been a Guider for 51 years working with all branches of Girl Guides of Canada – from 5 year old Sparks to 18 year old Rangers. She has held many volunteer managerial positions in Guiding including Commissioner and Administrative Community Leader, Chair of the Board of Directors for Camp Bryerswood, and has participated in many National and International Camps, both as a youth member and staff. She has many varied interests culminating in teaching children such diverse activities such as snowshoeing and cross country skiing, sewing, cross stitching, knitting, cooking and baking (especially bread and pies), hiking, backpacking, singing and folk dancing. She has also volunteered for the Heart and Stroke Foundation and has current Standard First Aid qualifications, British Star 1 Canoeing and Ontario Pleasure Craft Operator Card.
