Cathy Robertson

Cathy is a Recreationist and her life has been about providing recreation services to others. She has a great appreciation for nature and the out-of-doors and eagerly shares her skills and knowledge with others whether she is backpacking, canoeing, kayaking, hiking or snowshoeing. She finds much joy in providing these services to youth, especially teenagers. Her volunteer endeavours in these areas include involvement with Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards (14 years), Municipal Recreation Committees (16 years), 4-H (5 years), and Girl Guides of Canada (35 years), just to name a few. She has worked with all levels of Guiding and has attended National/International Camps as a Patrol Guider, Program Staff and Village Chief. Cathy enjoys watching the personal growth of a participant as they go through a program and learn and challenge themselves to be better people. Cathy is a businesswoman and has managed her own business for 8 years. She also has worked as a Recreationist serving seniors, palliative care individuals and persons with chronic mental health illnesses; been a private research assistant and co-author; and receptionist among other things. She is currently an Outside Sales Manager. Cathy has certifications from the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, Level 2 training; Ontario Recreational Canoeing Association Basic, Lakewater 1 & 2, and Tripping 1 qualifications; Ontario Outdoors Card; Possession and Acquisition License; Ontario Pleasure Craft Operator Card; Smart Serve and Safe Food Handler. Cathy has been recognized for her volunteer activities and received the Town of Amherstburg Medal of Distinction in 2017 and has previously been nominated for the Prime Minister’s Volunteer Awards. In her spare time, Cathy is a power walker and enjoys competing in half-marathon and 10K races.
